DEVELOPING EWR: Police Investigation Shuts Down Terminal A at Newark Airport”

A panicked stampede cleared a terminal at Newark International Airport on Monday night after an Alaska Airlines employee screamed "evacuate" after determining two men were suspicious.

The concerned employee hit an alarm after talking to the two men and almost 200 passengers evacuated the gate, Port Authority of NY and New Jersey spokesman Steve Coleman said.

The airline says the men that caused the airline worker to panic were located and questioned and were determined to just be "minding their own business". They were not in custody and have not been charged.

"Insane situation here at Newark Airport", Dave Lombardi, a writer for the Athletic website, who covers the San Francisco 49ers, said on his verified Twitter account.

The alarm caused about 150 to 200 passengers in the terminal to "self-evacuate" outside Gate 37, the Port Authority said. However, all passengers did have to go through security checks again.

The airport tweeted around 10:30 p.m. that there was no threat and all passengers and employees were being re-screened as a precaution.

"They just told us all to evacuate and whole terminal scattered", he tweeted.

Another passenger, Erin Fors, tweeted: 'Most terrifying few minutes of my life.

A spokesperson for Port Authority did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment, but told FOX5 it was unclear why the flight attendant attempted to question the two men, who both had tickets. Bags left behind. I initially thought it was an active shooter.
