Sony Xperia 2 press renders leaked

Sony Xperia 2 press renders leaked”

Sony's Xperia 2 is expected to make an appearance during IFA next week and, while the Japanese company might have wanted to preserve some of the design details a mystery, a handful of pretty official-looking press renders have surfaced online. There's a possibility that it could be given the name Xperia 1s or 1v or some other postfix to indicate that it's a compact Xperia 1.

In that article, Quandt thought (as we did) that it was a follow-up to the Sony Xperia 1. While the renders show a Crimson Red color variant, there are also likely to be Black and Navy Blue options.

The Xperia 2 is likely to feature a 21:9 screen and sport slim bezels on both top and bottom.

WinFuture initially speculated the device could offer a smaller 6.1-inch display for Android fans compared to the 6.5-inch panel on the Xperia 1.

In the renders we can notice a fingerprint scanner on the right side, placed next to the volume and power keys, as well as a camera shutter button.

Internally, the product is once again expected to powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor and boast 6GB of RAM. It has a triple rear camera setup, with a 12MP each sensor. It reportedly boasts three cameras but the difference this time around is that all lenses are located one the left edge. There will be a primary RGB sensor along with a wide-angle lens and a telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom. It supposedly features a 6.1-inch, 1080x2520 screen, which, compared to Xperia 1's 6.5-inch, 1644 x 3840 screen, would unfortunately end up being a downgrade. According to foreign media, the 35mm version of Sony XPERIA 1 also supports the 21:9 aspect ratio, but the resolution is reduced to 2520×1080 pixels, and it is possible that AMOLED display can be used.
