Vegan woman sues neighbors over smells from backyard BBQ

Vegan woman sues neighbors over smells from backyard BBQ”

Thousands of people are roasting an Australian vegan who took her neighbors to court over the smell of meat and fish from their barbecue - by planning a massive cookout outside her home. "I can't enjoy my backyard, I can't go out there".

A frustrated vegan has filed a lawsuit against her neighbours for braaiing in their back yards.

But to others, such as vegan masseuse Cilla Carden of Perth, Australia, it's simply too much to bear.

"It's been devastating, it's been turmoil, it's been unrest, I haven't been able to sleep".

Ms Carden is also upset at the noise of her neighbours' children playing basketball, claiming that they "bang the wall at anytime", and the noise wakes her up.

Cilla Carden claimed her neighbour, Toan Vu, along with his wife and children, deliberately let the smell of their barbecue and cooking fish waft into the backyard of her home in Girrawheen, Perth.

"Cilla Carden has a problem with her neighbours cooking meat on their BBQ, because she's a vegan. Recently taking them to the Supreme Court!"

Carden said she's "a good person".

She proceeded to file a 600-page document detailing her appeal, The West Australian reported, saying that she intends to keep fighting the battle.

The tribunal also stated that the neighbours made an effort to appease Carden by moving their barbecue prior to the hearing last month.

"Ms Carden's demands were proven to be not reasonable and indeed were to the detriment of the other owners' ability to enjoy their lots in a reasonable and acceptable manner", the neighbour, who wants to stay anonymous, said.

"It's deliberate, that's what I said to the court", she said.
