Crystal Palace manager Hodgson hails Jordan Ayew for his attacking and defending”

Jordan Ayew celebrates scoring the winning goal for Crystal Palace against Aston Villa.

This becomes the second consecutive week that Jordan Ayew has scored for his club and we hope he continues to enjoy this success through the season.

Whilst the former England manager acknowledged the team he fielded should have had enough to win the match against a side who sit 17th in the League Two table, missing the likes of Schlupp and Van Aanholt was still a disappointment.

Kevin Friend adjudged that Grealish had dived in the build up to Henri Lansbury putting the ball in the net late on for Villa, a goal which would have been an equaliser, and replays showed that there was contact.

Wesley had an early chance to add to his goal in that victory last time out but shot tamely at Vicente Guaita in the Palace goal inside the opening minute.

Villa, who had been lowered to 10 males following the 54th minute dismissal of Trezeguet after the midfielder collected a second yellow card, have been incensed and protests continued after the ultimate whistle.

Milivojevic once again stung the palms of Heaton but opportunities were coming at a premium, Ayew shooting wide from distance as frustrations started to grow at Selhurst Park.

Ayew received a pass from compatriot Jeffrey Schlupp before skillfully taking on Tyrone Mings and Jack Grealish to curl in the only goal against Aston Villa.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is concerned about his side's lack of depth.
