Three people arrested for Amy-Lee De Jager kidnapping

Three people arrested for Amy-Lee De Jager kidnapping”

Amy'Leigh de Jager, 6, was snatched by four balaclava-clad men in front of Kollegepark Primary School as she, her mother and her five-year-old brother were getting out of the vehicle.

She was not held at the Shakespeare Inn Hotel, as reported elsewhere.

On Wednesday, three people were arrested for the kidnapping of Amy'Leigh, who was snatched from her mother's auto at the Laerskool Kollegepark in Vanderbijlpark.

The SAPS revealed it is satisfied that the three main people responsible for the kidnapping of Amy Lee are behind bars but the possibility of more arrests being effected can not be ruled out.

Naidoo adds one of the female suspects is known to the little girl's parents. "I wish to make it clear that my family had no hand in this".

Amy'Leigh was released unharmed by her alleged kidnappers during the early hours of Tuesday morning because "the kidnappers knew that the net was closing in on them", according to Naidoo.

Police launched a manhunt while her distraught parents waited at the Vanderbijlpark police station for any news.

This was confirmed by Amy-Leigh's father, Wynand de Jager, as well as a second trusted source close to the investigation.

Police national spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo says two women, aged 27 and 40, as well as a 50-year man were arrested at their homes in Vanderbijlpark last night.

"I applaud the unwavering commitment shown by the investigators and members of Crime Intelligence in this case", said police commissioner General Khehla Sitole.

The three suspects are now in police custody.

"These members have worked around the clock ever since Amy Lee's kidnapping was reported to us and such dedication is very encouraging".

"They are now in police custody and they are expected to appear in court on a charge of kidnapping before the close of business tomorrow".
