Would Rather Be Dead In Ditch Than Delay Brexit, Says Boris Johnson

Would Rather Be Dead In Ditch Than Delay Brexit, Says Boris Johnson”

He called for another referendum to resolve the issue. Johnson noted his desire for a deal between the two nations.

This was after Nicoll called in to LBC on Monday to ask what level of patient mortality rate Rees-Mogg would be happy with if the United Kingdom leaves the European Union without an agreement.

The speech, at a police academy in the city of Wakefield, was marred at the end by the apparent collapse of a police cadet standing behind him. During that period, MPs will have the opportunity to reject that date.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn earlier said his party required the no-deal Brexit bill to gain royal assent, pass through all the legislative stages before it would consider backing Johnson's call for a general election.

Boris Johnson became prime minister in July after promising Conservatives that he would complete Brexit and break the impasse that has paralyzed Britain's politics since voters decided in June 2016 to leave the bloc and which brought down his predecessor, Theresa May. The PM's pro-remain, younger sibling, who quits his cabinet role as universities, science, research and innovation minister, revealed on Twitter that he had been "torn between family and national interest".

"He has been a brilliant, talented minister and a fantastic MP", the spokesman said.

Jo Johnson had been a member of Parliament for Orpington, a district on the southeast of London, since 2010.

Transparency campaigner Gina Miller, who won a 2017 Supreme Court ruling that stopped the government from triggering the countdown to Brexit without a vote in Parliament, took the government to the High Court on Thursday over the suspension.

This is unless Parliament approves a new deal or supports a no-deal Brexit by October 19 - the current scheduled date of UK's departure from EU.

The pound surged to a one-month high against the dollar on rising market hopes that Britain can avoid a disorderly end to 46 years of European Union membership next month.

However, Labour is divided over the timing of any poll.

The pro-European Liberal Democrats were on 16 per cent while the Brexit Party of populist Nigel Farage was in fourth place with 11 per cent.

But while Labour wants an election, it is wary of holding one before October 31, which could give Johnson a majority with which to push through his plan. "So, we are now consulting about whether it's better to go long, therefore, rather than to go short".

"We're anxious to do that", he said.

A No 10 source said that Mr Johnson does not endorse Mr Rees-Mogg's view and that he was expected to apologise.

Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson comes out to greet US Vice-President Mike Pence (unseen) outside 10 Downing Street in central London on September 5, 2019.

"It's not because a problem is complicated that by diluting it over time and delaying it for three months without changing anything, it will be resolved", she told France's Radio Classique.
