Xperia 5 - Wider experience, sleeker design”

Sony today unveiled the Xperia 5 at its IFA 2019 press conference in Berlin.

Pre-installed with Android 9, the Xperia 5 will be made available in select markets starting from October onwards. It's basically the Xperia 1 Compact.

Xperia 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Sony has yet to reveal the Xperia 5 price for the United Kingdom, but we do know it'll cost €799 in Europe, so we're looking at around $880, £715, AU$1,300. However, the Japanese tech giant sprang a surprise hours ago when it announced the Xperia 5 at IFA 2019 with all the dressing of the expected Xperia 2. Similar to the Xperia 1, the Xperia 5 comes with a triple camera (26mm (F1.6) versatile lens, 52mm (F2.4) telescopic lens, and 16mm (F2.4) and super-wide lens (35mm conversion)) featuring OIS. Camera features include 4K HDR movie recording, RAW Noise Reduction, 5x digital zoom, HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, Hybrid autofocus, 3D Creator, and Bokeh effect.

Big In Size Yet Compact Form Factor

Sony has adopted the 21:9 aspect ratio because it believes that's an improved experience to offer further screen for watching videos or playing games. It learns the phones behavior with LTE and Wi-Fi signal and automatically switches to LTE when it predicts any compromise in the wireless connectivity.

For sophisticated style that's the ideal hand-fit with minimal footprint, Xperia 5 features a sleek and easy-to-hold design enhanced by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 6 for durability, with an IP 65/68 rating against water and dust. The Xperia 5 will also support DualShock for haptic gaming on Fortnite.
