Steam Library Update Coming September 17

Steam Library Update Coming September 17”

Valve will soon introduce an entirely refreshed way to manage your Steam games, including VR titles. This will allow creators to cherry-pick what updates are pushed to customer's notifications rather than bombarding them with alerts about every small patch.

The update brings two key changes to Steam's library.

But, a good library shouldn't just be dusty shelves, it has to be a fun place to explore and find whatever it is that you're looking for. Whether you want to keep up to date about what's happening with your games, find a game to play with your friends, or explore what's happening in your game's community, your library should support you. First up is a new lick of paint that sees the landing page redesigned with a more modern look, and displays quick access to game updates, recently played games, friend activity, and your collections. Certainly I know I have trouble navigating the hundreds of games in my library. Well, those days are over.

Another feature Valve focused on for this library update is Events, a new page for each title you own that will keep players updated on which games are now running in-game events that may reward players with exclusive items or offering limited time modes. 'Showcasing these updates is valuable to players and also developers. The company released new developer tools meant to accompany this update, too, which means it might change the way game makers and players alike interact with the venerable game launcher.

In a blog post today, Valve mentioned that the update will be made available for all users who choose to opt-in to the new Steam library beta when it launches on Sept 17 before mass launching the feature later on down the line for everyone.
