New Book on Weinstein Reveals ‘Shocking Discoveries’ About Lisa Bloom, David Boies”

Chiu spoke alongside Kantor, Twohey, and actress and Weinstein accuser Ashley Judd on Monday's Today, saying that when she was initially approached in October 2017, when the allegations against Weinstein were first reported, the idea of breaking her non-disclosure agreement was "terrifying".

Some of the new details in the new book are remarkable, even by the standards of the story.

Ms. Bloom accompanied Mr. Weinstein on a surprise visit to the Times the day before the initial article was published, to present the journalists with information meant to portray several accusers - including Ashley Judd, the first actress to go on the record - as unreliable and mentally unstable.

"We can place an article re her becoming increasingly unglued", Bloom wrote about McGowan.

Bloom, who made her title representing victims of sexual misconduct, highlighted her popularity when talking to Weinstein, in keeping with the guide.

"I was able to say to Gwyneth, "I always anxious about you"... and Gwyneth was able to say to me, 'I was cheering for you, I knew that you were going to be the one to tell the story, ' and I'm so glad I did", Judd said.

In the memo, Bloom allegedly provided a "multistep playbook" with suggestions for how to intimidate and discredit Weinstein's accusers, according to the report.

"My former client's current attorneys have strictly forbidden me from discussing anything about his case", she wrote.

"I do reiterate that being associated with him in any way whatsoever was a colossal mistake which I have apologized for many times", she wrote. "As much as I want to correct the inaccuracies in this reporting, I can not risk being sued or disbarred".

The Times published extracts of the Weinstein letter ahead of the book´s publication. "To any who missed it, and especially to the women, I apologize again now". "It's a venerable institution, and their legal team had vetted their reporting and I knew that it was all going to be OK".

Boies defended his work for Weinstein in the book, saying he didn't have "any regret that I represented him the way I did". He was famously implicated in an advanced plot to discredit the ladies with the assistance of an Israeli non-public investigations agency named Black Dice. But he defended the assistance he provided to Mr. Weinstein as the producer sought to hide allegations and said he didn't have "any regret that I represented him the way I did".
