U.S. doctors group says just stop vaping as deaths, illnesses rise”

One of the biggest vaping companies, Juul, did not directly comment on the crisis but said it was cooperating with federal authorities.

There have been at least 450 possible cases, including five deaths, identified in the USA this year and many said they had been vaping THC, the chemical that gives marijuana its high.

Vitamin E acetate is generally deemed fit for ingestion and topical use.

The FDA noted it still "does not have enough data" to be certain that vitamin E acetate is causing the sicknesses and deaths, "the agency believes it is prudent to avoid inhaling this substance. Because consumers can not be sure whether any THC vaping products may contain Vitamin E acetate, consumers are urged to avoid buying vaping products on the street, and to refrain from using THC oil or modifying/adding any substances to products purchased in stores".

Doctors say the illnesses resemble an inhalation injury, with the body apparently reacting to a caustic substance that someone breathed in.

Patients have shown symptoms including cough, shortness of breath and chest pain.

An alarming trend has prompted Ohio Department of Health officials to speak out; and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to update their recommendations. The Health Department's renowned Wadsworth Labs is trying to figure out what is in the vaping liquid that might cause the lung issues.

One victim from Utah reportedly went from being perfectly healthy to being "kept alive by two machines", with the Washington Post reporting that he "went from being sick to being on death's door in literally two days".

Cuomo's warning, and a separate state Health Department warning issued on Saturday, follow reports of a pattern of serious lung illnesses among users of THC and nicotine vaping products in ny state and around the country.

Officials have emphasized that it is not yet certain that vitamin E acetate is the cause of the illnesses.

Several cases of pulmonary illnesses are on the rise across the country, and they are all linked to vaping.

'It seems highly unlikely that widely available nicotine-containing vaping products, particularly of the type regulated in Europe, are causing these cases, ' professor Linda Bauld, a public health expert at Edinburgh University confirmed.

"We're not anxious, because we're fortunate to be a legal, licensed marijuana company that works within (a regulated environment) that prevents products like this from hitting the market", Marcus said, adding that the company has heard "almost nothing" from consumers who may have worries about the vaping illness outbreak.

For more information about vaping and the dangers it presents, contact your county's Public Health Nurse. The heating element in e-cigarettes emits tiny particles, sometimes including metals, which can lodge themselves deep into the lungs and get absorbed into the body's circulatory system.

The CDC says it's still unclear which vaping agents are responsible for the severe respiratory illness that has cropped up.

E-cigarettes and vaping, was supposed to be a safer alternative to tobacco smoking, and even help wean people off tobacco.

The Federal and State officials are intensively investigating the sudden eruption of illness and deaths related to e-cigarette use.

"The Health Ministry's position is clear: Using electronic cigarettes is harmful to your health!"
