Pierce Brosnan thinks it's time for a woman to play James Bond

Pierce Brosnan thinks it's time for a woman to play James Bond”

And now, two James Bonds say it is time for a casting shake-up.

One former Bond is all about a strong woman taking up the mantle in future films.

He made his remarks while promoting the Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery, Knives Out, at the Toronto International Film Festi-val, and jokingly endorsed his co-star Jamie Lee Curtis for the role.

Pierce, who performed 007 in 4 movies from 1995 to 2002, stated on the Deauville Movie Competition: 'I think we've watched the fellows do it for the final 40 years, get out of the way in which, and put a lady up there.

But GMB co-host Susanna Reid, 48, was quick to defend the idea of James Bond being a woman, as she hit back: "But 007 is a position, not a man so why would it be a problem?"

Following an online poll, 82% of GMB viewers agreed with Piers that the character should be played by a male actor, as the TV presenter added: "The nation has spoken and the nation once again agrees with me". "I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting", he said.Talking about the ramifications of the #MeToo era and how it would affect the franchise, Brosnan said that it would have to change with the times.

The Irish actor, who starred as Agent 007 in movies including "GoldenEye", "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The World Is Not Enough", admitted he didn't think it'll happen anytime soon, however.

"And that's fine. We don't have to turn male characters into women".

"I don't think that's going to happen with the Broccolis".

That does not mean the franchise is not evolving, however.

The upcoming "No Time to Die", which will be Craig's last appearance as Bond, will reportedlyreveal the next Agent 007: Actress Lashana Lynch.

However, some fans might take issue with some of Brosnan's remarks to the trade publication.
