U.S. labour judge rules that Tesla broke labour law

U.S. labour judge rules that Tesla broke labour law”

A federal administrative judge has ruled that Tesla violated USA labour laws on 12 different occasions where it thwarted efforts by factory employees to form a union.

According to Bloomberg and Reuters, one of the violations cited in the filing is a tweet by company chief Elon Musk.

Further inside the bid, Friday's (September 27th) ruling had noted a Musk tweet made in May 2018 that was contemplated as an act of "threatening the employees", while Musk wrote in the tweet past year, "Nothing stopping Tesla team at our auto plant from voting union. Musk threatened to take away a benefit enjoyed by the employees consequently for voting to unionise", the judge ruled.

Addressing to the tweet, the judge had been quoted saying on Friday (September 27th), the tweet was submissively indicating that Tesla board would loss stock options, had they voted in favour of the Union, which in effect had impacted employees' safety concerns.

The judge now wants Tesla to reinstate and offer backpay to a pro-union employee and to revoke a warning issue to another one.

Further, the judgment calls for a meeting at the Fremont, CA, factory, where Musk must read aloud a notice to employees informing them about the company's breaches of the law.

Tesla is trying to deliver a record 100,000 cars during the third quarter, and with only a day left, sources say that Tesla is now "a few thousand" cars short of the delivery goal.

Tesla did not immediately comment Saturday.

Tesla has some inventory but the challenge for delivering 100,000 EVs in the third quarter would be to match the right vehicle variants to the specific customer orders, Musk has reportedly said. "Elon's tweet was simply a recognition of the fact that unlike Tesla, we're not aware of a single UAW-represented automaker that provides stock options or restricted stock units to their production employees, and UAW organizers have consistently dismissed the value of Tesla (TSLA) equity as part of our compensation package", a spokesperson said.

Elon Musk is in the midst of numerous legal battles charging that he's watching out more for his own interests than those of Tesla's shareholders.
