FBI needs help identifying victims of America's most prolific serial killer”

After five years of linking cases to confessions, Federal Bureau of Investigation analysts have declared confessed murderer Samuel Little "the most prolific serial killer in USA history" and are now seeking the public's help matching as many as 43 unconfirmed confessions.

Little targeted women, often of marginalized and vulnerable groups, many who were involved in prostitution or suffering from drug addiction.

Many of his victims' deaths were originally deemed overdoses, or attributed to accidental or undetermined causes. Little is now serving three life sentences on California convictions, and in 2019, received two additional sentences for 15 years to life for the murders of two women in Cincinnati. He has been extradited to Texas, where he will likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

Since May 2018, Texas Ranges and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been working to confirm his confessions and asked the public on Sunday for its help in identifying his assumed victims.

Though investigators have exclusively confirmed his involvement in 50 of them, they consider all of Little's confessions are credible.

Eventually, Little confessed to killing about 90 people. Some bodies were never found.

The FBI has used this strategy before, releasing 16 victim portraits Little drew in February.

The agency said that he killed in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

All three had been beaten and strangled.

The FBI has set up a website showing his videotaped recollections of unidentified killings, alongside sketches - drawn by Little - of the people he claims to have murdered. He was charged with three counts of murder, and in 2014, he was convicted and sentenced to three life sentences with no possibility of parole.

Los Angeles cold-case detectives at the time suspected Little was a serial killer, a transient and former boxer who travelled the country preying on drug addicts, troubled women and others.
