No-Deal Brexit Court Case: Theo Usherwood Explains The Verdict

No-Deal Brexit Court Case: Theo Usherwood Explains The Verdict”

A presentation to European Union diplomats revealed they are unwilling to accept the UK's plans committing to no checks on either side of the Irish border if the Northern Ireland Assembly are granted a veto and a lack of guarantees of checks on the United Kingdom side.

But Brussels is likely to see the new text as not enough to change the bloc's position.

Officials and diplomats said the United Kingdom appeared to be "laying the ground work for an extension" with its approach to the talks.

"But expecting a counter offer on a document that brings up so many fundamental questions?"

The industry has not been made aware of reported plans by the United Kingdom side to use the supply of medicines to patients as "leverage" in Brexit negotiations.

The biggest area of disagreement is how Brexit can happen for the United Kingdom "whole and entire" without creating a new border in Ireland that risks undermining the Good Friday Agreement peace deal.

Another EU officials insisted negotiations have never been conducted on the basis of offers and counter offers.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he will obey the law, but will not ask for a delay.

"With respect to Ireland's situation in future, there are two main problems: the role proposed for the Northern Ireland institutions and the customs border arrangements", said Rinne, whose country now holds the rotating European Union presidency.

"So that reduces the risk of no deal now".

The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) was responding to newspaper reports that Michael Gove, the Conservative Cabinet minister in charge of no-deal Brexit preparations, has listed the fact that 60% of medicines for the Republic come through the United Kingdom among a series of potential issues to be used in talks. Johnson also said that "most people just want to get Brexit done".

"In terms of what it requires in technical work, it won't be done before the summit", they said.

"What can be done in the timeframe is going to other, off-the-shelf models with tweaks".

He referred to promises made by the prime minister that he would rather be "dead in a ditch" than send a letter requesting an extension, and that the United Kingdom will leave on October 31 "do or die".
