Oakland City Council seeks to quell rapidly rising worries over A's future”

Schaaf confirmed that story.

"The reports of that are accurate", she said, according to KTVU FOX 2. The city and county share ownership of the stadium.

The Oakland City Council is asking the city administration to iron out its differences with the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, who are proposing to sell their half of the Coliseum complex to the Oakland Athletics. The A's, though, have said they need to be able to redevelop the Coliseum to help them pay for their privately financed new stadium at Howard Terminal.

Enter Rob Manfred. who earlier this week made a veiled threat to move the team to Vegas if Oakland didn't drop their lawsuit.

The lawsuit apparently ticked off not only the A's, but also Major League Baseball and Commission Rob Manfred, who has - to his credit - worked aggressively to get a new ballpark plan together for the A's so they can remain in Oakland.

The next hearing in the lawsuit is set for November 14 - but Schaaf said on Monday that she's confident about working something out to keep the team in Oakland.

A's president Dave Kaval said last week that the franchise was "blindsided" by the restraining order being granted. Schaaf said Manfred's choice of a possible relocation city was intentional. I see this path. After all, the commissioner has in the past rejected the idea of the team leaving Oakland, saying previous year, "I believe that there is not another market in the United States that has the upside potential that Oakland has, and I think we would regret leaving Oakland". "They want to do right by their constituents, which are our constituents, so I believe we will get something done collaboratively and put this lawsuit behind us".

"I don't think that it serves the public when two governmental agencies are suing each other", Schaaf said.

In the reporting, it tentatively sounds like the threat is helping, because city officials will be meeting with county officials to try to work something out. We are co-owners of this land.

The Chronicle reported the city can't match the A's offer of $85 million.
