Strict enforcement: Europeans urge strict sanctions enforcement on North Korea”

Three European countries - Britain, France and Germany - called for a closed door Security Council meeting Tuesday to discuss North Korea's test last week of a sea-launched missile, saying it was a "serious violation" of United Nations resolutions.

USA deputy U.N. Ambassador Jonathan Cohen represented Washington at the meeting, which lasted less than an hour.

"We urge the DPRK to engage in good faith in meaningful negotiations with the United States", it added, referring to North Korea by its official acronym.

The "field guidance" to Farm No. 1116 under Unit 810 of the Korean Peoples' Army appears to be created to underline his commitment to resolve food problems and focus on economic development despite the lack of progress in Saturday's talks with the USA in Sweden.

North Korea wants to see tough economic sanctions lifted, while the United States insists on maintaining "maximum pressure" until Pyongyang takes concrete steps toward the complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of its nuclear program.

"The United States and its followers should bear in mind that if they raise the issue of our self-defensive measures at the UN Security Council meeting in this moment, it will further (increase) our desire to defend our sovereignty", he said.

Britain, France, Germany, Poland and Belgium, as well as Estonia, which joins the council in January, issued the joint statement after a closed-door session of the Security Council in NY.

The assertion known as the launches "provocative actions" which can be "in clear violation of U.N. Safety Council resolutions" banning ballistic missile assessments. "It is vital that the Security Council upholds its resolutions.
