UK's Boris Johnson asks Donald Trump for diplomatic help in fatal crash

UK's Boris Johnson asks Donald Trump for diplomatic help in fatal crash”

DONALD Trump has vowed to "speak" to the United States diplomat's wife who fled the United Kingdom after allegedly killing a Brit teen in a hit-and-run to "see what we can do" to arrange a meeting with the heartbroken family.

Trump on Wednesday called what happened "a awful accident" and said his administration would seek to speak with the driver "and see what we can come up with". The woman driving the auto is the wife of a U.S. diplomat, and she used diplomatic immunity to flee to the U.S. Mr. Trump spoke with U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the case.

"We're going to speak to her and see what we can come up with so that there can be some healing".

American Mrs Sacoolas, 42, allegedly smashed into 19-year-old Harry Dunn's motorbike while driving her Volvo on the wrong side of the road on August 27. "That happens. I won't say it ever happened to me, but it did".

Trump's remarks come two days after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged Sacoolas to return to England to face justice.

Johnson has said he hoped the diplomat's wife, Anne Sacoolas, would choose to return to Britain to engage with investigators.

A lawyer for the Dunn family says the family is willing to talk with Trump about the issue and confirmed they plan to travel to the US.

The family of the dead teenager will take their legal action to the U.S. because police in Britain remain prevented from charging Anne Sacoolas in this country. "And the woman was driving on the wrong side of the road", he said, telling reporters "that can happen" when Americans aren't used to driving on the left side of the road.
