Panera Bread worker says mac-and-cheese video got her fired

Panera Bread worker says mac-and-cheese video got her fired”

By now, you've probably seen the viral TikTok of a Panera Bread employee "exposing" (as her caption reads) how the fast food chain prepares their macaroni and cheese.

The clip, which has since amassed over 6 million views and almost a million likes, shows a Panera Bread worker placing a frozen bag that contains the company's macaroni and cheese into a Value-Added Tax of boiling water, set to a man hysterically cackling. "Most chain restaurants freeze their foods... everyone needs to chill, Panera still bomb", one user wrote.

The account @BriiRamirezz told Twitter followers, "lol I lost my job for this video".

"Mac and cheese is made off-site with our proprietary recipe developed by our chefs and using our sourced ingredients that meet our standards for our clean menu offerings", the spokesperson said. "This allows us to avoid using preservatives which do not meet our clean standards".

"We want to make sure that if you're in MA or California or in any one of our 2,100 locations that you get that same awesome experience", she told USA TODAY.

"People thought it was fresh?" one commenter said. Once reheated, she cuts open the bag and pours the creamy contents out onto a bowl.

And voila, you've got yourself mac and cheese. Fast casual eateries "offer consumers freshly-prepared, higher-quality food in an informal setting, with counter service to keep things speedy", the website Investopedia explains.

The video shows someone picking out a bag of the frozen mac "n" cheese and then placing the bag in what looks like hot water. "I will always love Panera and their food". Did people really think there was a chef hanging out in the kitchen of Panera Bread making their Mac and Cheese?

Drama aside, the eatery says it serves more than 3 million mac-and-cheese servings each month.

For her part, the woman behind the video said she wouldn't be commenting any further on the situation.

Her latest tweets suggest a silver lining in the alleged firing, which has brought even more publicity: "since it's blowing up again go follow my socials", she said Saturday.
