Bipartisan House vote condemns Trump’s withdrawal from Syria”

Russian Federation offered Wednesday to mediate a resolution in northern Syria, further asserting Moscow's role as a regional force, ahead of a mission by US Vice President Mike Pence to press Turkey for a cease-fire in its attack on Syrian Kurdish fighters.

The Turkish president's comments come a day ahead of a visit by U.S. Vice-President Mike Pence to the Turkish capital Ankara.

Trump participates in a joint press availability with Italian President Sergio Mattarella in the White House.

As he met Wednesday with Italy's president, Trump said: "If Syria wants to fight to take back their land, that's up to them and Turkey".

Russian Federation has stepped into the void caused by Mr Trump's withdrawal of U.S. troops from northern Syria, deploying patrols to prevent clashes between Syrian and Turkish forces.

Previously, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said he wouldn't discuss his country's military operation in Syria with two of US President Donald Trump's top officials.

Erdogan said any call or visit to Turkey from foreign leaders regarding Syria will be a "waste of time and energy" unless Turkey's "unequivocal and reasonable" stance is taken into account.

The Turkish offensive and USA move to withdraw troops prompted Syrian Kurdish leaders to strike a surprise deal with the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad earlier this week, paving the way for pro-government forces and allied Russian troops to fill a security vacuum in the north.

"Syria's friendly with the Kurds".

The Russian-backed Syrian army entered Manbij on Tuesday, taking advantage of an abrupt USA retreat from Syria after the Turkish incursion, and deployed deep inside Kurdish-held territory south of the Turkish frontier. The withdrawal left exposed Kurdish fighters who fought for several years alongside American troops against Islamic State and are now under attack from the Turkish military.

At least 70 civilians, 135 Kurdish-led SDF fighters and 120 Turkey-allied Syrian fighters have been killed in the region since the offensive began, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Wednesday.

Syrian forces also expanded their deployment in Raqqa earlier in the day, state-run Sana news agency said, showing images of troops in army gear, carrying their national flag and pictures of Assad as they made their way to the area. It's not our problem", Trump said, adding: "The Kurds know how to fight.

Russian Federation has moved quickly to further entrench its leadership role in the region after Mr Trump ordered the pull-out of American forces in north-eastern Syria.

Erdogan told reporters late Tuesday that Turkey would "never declare a cease-fire" and that he was unconcerned with US sanctions targeting senior Turkish officials over the offensive. "They've got a lot of sand over there, so there's a lot of sand they can play with".

"The US can not stick to unilateralism", Cavusoglu said. Pence said the U.S. is "simply not going to tolerate Turkey's invasion of Syria any longer".

The resolution states Congress' opposition to the troop pullback and says Turkey should cease its military action in Syria. Sanctioning Turkey would be better than fighting in the region, he said.

Russian Federation has moved to fill the void left by the United States in the conflict, deploying its forces toward Syria's border with Turkey.
