Celtics Offer Jaylen Brown Four-Year, $80M Extension

Celtics Offer Jaylen Brown Four-Year, $80M Extension”

"We've been negotiating for a little while".

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge says the team's negotiations with forward Jaylen Brown are "going well".

Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic said the team has offered him a maximum contract extension that would pay more than $50 million and keep him in Sacramento for four more years, but he is in no hurry to sign it.

It was unclear whether Ainge was characterizing as incorrect the reported terms of the deal or that Brown had turned it down.

But Brown believes in his ability to one day be a star and is pursuing a bigger offer, sources said. It's hard not to think about it at all. "I think stuff like that will end up working itself out". "But I think that we're in a good place, and we'll see what happens over these next few days". Without the presence of superstar point guard Kyrie Irving, who left in the summer to join the Brooklyn Nets in free agency, Tatum should assume a larger share of the scoring burden in the Celtics offense this season.

Jaylen Brown (7) of the Boston Celtics shoots the ball against the Orlando Magic during a pre-season game on October 11, 2019 at Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

Tatum has a lot to prove after a somewhat disappointing second season, and how he responds in his third year will likely have a huge impact on the Celtics' chances of making a deep playoff run.

Last season, however, he started in just 25 of his 74 games and saw his numbers dip slightly to 13.0 points and 4.2 rebounds.
