OnePlus 8 Pro renders leak showing punch hole display, 3D ToF camera

OnePlus 8 Pro renders leak showing punch hole display, 3D ToF camera”

Days after the OnePlus 7T Pro hit the market, leaks have surfaced showing off renders of its replacement: the OnePlus 8 Pro. Several renders are also shared in the report that reveals that OnePlus 8 pro might not come with a pop-up selfie camera that was introduced in OnePlus 7 Pro (Review). While the initial renders of the OnePlus 8 were revealed earlier this month, 91mobiles in association with reliable tipster and industry expert Onleaks has just released detailed renders of the OnePlus 8 Pro.

As you can see from the renders below, the OnePlus 8 Pro will come with a punch-hole display instead of a notch-less screen that we have on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro. The smartphone could be fueled by the upcoming Snapdragon 865 flagship chipset.

It'll likely be a while until the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro make their official debut, as the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro were unveiled in May this year. The 3D ToF sensor became quite popular this year and we've seen it on phones like the Huawei Mate 30 series, LG G8 ThinQ, Huawei P30 Pro, Galaxy S10 5G and more. The top edge only has a hole for the mic, since OnePlus ditched the pop-up camera module. The left edge features the volume rockers while the power button and alert slider are positioned on the right edge.

A USB-C port rests at the bottom edge of the OnePlus 8 Pro, accompanied by a speaker grille to its left.

The renders also suggest that the 8 Pro will be the first OnePlus smartphone to sport a quad-camera setup, comprising three sensors (main, telephoto and wide-angle) alongside a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor. However, compared to the 6.5-inch screen tipped for the OnePlus 8, the Pro variant will have a slightly larger 6.65-inch display. The entire package reportedly measures 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm in size. The 7T Pro now misses out on the 5G spectrum.

What's your opinion on the design of the OnePlus 8 Pro? The sensor is used to calculate distance and depth as well as help with 3D imaging and AR. Share us your views by posting your comments below.
