Pixel 4 will support enhanced dual-band Global Positioning System 'soon'

Pixel 4 will support enhanced dual-band Global Positioning System 'soon'”

Some new photos of the Pixel 4 XL have been spilled on Reddit, giving us a vastly improved take a gander at the gadget.

"Your phone can also be unlocked by someone else if it's held up to your face, even if your eyes are closed", a Google support page reads.

The issues with that are obvious. Yes, it can convert anything you speak into the Google Pixel 4's microphone into text on-device at the same time as you are saying it. Google reportedly told the broadcaster it wouldn't be available for the Pixel 4's October 24 launch.

In all fairness to Google, this is far from the first major flaw with a biometric security system. Of course, in the latter case, they probably have worse things to worry about than their phone being breached. The 2D images you get from the camera are very easy to spoof, so it's not considered a secure unlock method.

Even if fingerprint unlocking were an alternative for the Pixel 4, it suffers from some vulnerabilities as well.

The company said that the feature couldn't be fooled by masks, and people could use a PIN code to unlock their Pixel 4 instead of face unlock. If you're incapacitated or a heavy sleeper, someone could just as easily put your finger to the sensor and unlock your phone. Here's hoping that Google decides to abandon this decision in favor of folks who have disabilities and have difficulty using gestural navigation (or folks that just might prefer tried-and-true buttons). And would the omission of unlimited original quality photo backup for free make a difference in considering a Pixel device for your next purchase? Regardless, Pixel 4 will be available for sale in Japan and a number of other countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Singapore and Taiwan.

Google has touted its Face Match system as even faster than Apple's Face ID, and iPhone users seem to have adapted to that reasonably well.
