Cowboy Bebop: Netflix Series Halts Production After John Cho Injured On Set”

Netflix has shut down production on its new live-action series Cowboy Bepop.

The 26-episode Cowboy Bebop, one of the most heralded anime series in the world, aired in Japan from 1998 to 1999 and received a number of anime and science-fiction awards.

Netflix has put the production of its live-action adaptation of Sunrise's Cowboy Bebop anime on hold due to lead actor John Cho injuring his knee on the New Zealand set.

Sources on the set told Deadline that Cho's injury was quite surprising, calling it a "freak accident", as the scene was well-rehearsed and the actor was filming the last take. Cho is back in Los Angeles, where he will undergo surgery, according to a person familiar with the matter.

In a statement to Deadline, a spokesperson for Netflix said, "Our thoughts are with John and he has our complete support as he recuperates from this injury". Deadline provides that Netflix determined to maintain Cho as an alternative of recasting, and can wait till late spring or early summer season to renew manufacturing so Cho can rehabilitate. "Thanks for all the well wishes everyone".

Cho posted a Bruce Lee quote on his Instagram page Friday afternoon: "Water can flow or it can crash". Gonna be back and flowing in no time!'

The series has an ensemble cast of Mustafa Shakir (Jet Black), Daniella Pineda (Faye Valentine), and Alex Hassell (Vicious).

Cowboy Bebop is an anime series which focuses on a team of bounty hunters working on the spaceship Bebop in the year 2071. The original Cowboy Bebop, an acclaimed Japanese anime series, began airing in the USA on Adult Swim back in 2001 and introduced many American viewers to the world of anime.
