Former Man Utd boss Ferguson accused of match-fixing scandal”

Tori say one football agent wey dem accuse of corruption don come out to claim say b4 b4 Manchester United Coach wey be Sir Alex Ferguson bin conspire to fix one match between Manchester United and Juventus and e bin collect Rolex gift watch wey reach £30,000, na so one court hear today.

Agent Giuseppe "Pino" Pagliara is on trial in England for bribery, having told an undercover reporter he helped Sir Alex Ferguson "fix" a Manchester United match with Juventus and gave then-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte back-handers.

Describing one meeting in Manchester in June 2016, prosecutor Brian O'Neill QC told Southwark Crown Court yesterday: "Pagliara launched into what could only be described as a diatribe of Sir Alex Ferguson... He claimed that he had paid Ferguson before", O'Neill was quoted as saying at another meeting, even as he was quick to add. It is understood that all three men have denied the charges against them.

The prosecutor said of Mr Price: "He went on to say this: 'There are certain people like Harry Redknapp; he needs looking after".

Former assistant head coach of Barnsley Football Club Tommy Wright (left) is in court charged with bribery.

Pagliara, 64, also told journalist Claire Newell, who was using a pseudonym at the time, that Ferguson took money from transfer deals and split money with agents, according to The Times.

Tommy Wright was allegedly handed the envelope of cash during an undercover investigation by a national newspaper.

The court was told that such "third party ownership" set-ups were banned by the English Football Association (FA) in 2009 and by Fifa, the football world-governing body, in 2015.

He said the evidence was presented because it showed a defendant's alleged 'knowledge or belief of corruption within football in this country and elsewhere, and his willingness not just to condone such practices but also to embrace and exploit them'.

Wright, of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, denies two counts of accepting a bribe.

"It's no part of this prosecution to malign those individuals about whom they spoke".

"And that, said Pagliara, was the plan that he wanted to end up bringing to England because that's where the money is".

The jury were taken through secretly recorded transcripts of conversations with Pagliara and Price that were later passed to City of London police.

Pagliara was docked for paying and facilitating a bribe and denies all charges tabled against him.
