Kanye West releases trailer for 'Jesus Is King' IMAX film”

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is getting extra cinematic with his Jesus Is King project.

"Filmed in the summer of 2019, Jesus Is King brings Kanye West's famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater", the movie's website explains of the synopsis. "In the words of Jesus Christ, 'The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel, '" text from Mark 1:15 reads on a blue screen. The characterize modified into initially due out September 27, and modified into then pushed to September 29, but it never arrived, to fans' consternation and disappointment.

Multiple release dates for the album, which apparently sees the mercurial artist take a sharp departure from rap to gospel, have come in gone in the past month.

Not that the river went completely dry, as West continued to host his Sunday Services, including in Atlanta and his native Chicago, and announced the film that documented those services. "I don't know [Kanye] as a Christian and someone who is being led by the Holy Spirit", Pastor Stephen Blake told the Star.

"I wasn't fully saved during Coachella", West reportedly said.

"Jesus Is King" is the upcoming ninth studio album by West, and features an array of guest artists, including Clipse, Ty Dolla Sign, Nicki Minaj, and Kenny G.

The events, which have drawn celebrities like Brad Pitt, are a special mix of hip hop and spiritual.

In August 2019, West's wife Kim Kardashian reannounced the album as Jesus Is King, widely anticipated to be released simultaneously with a concert film of the same name on 25 October, 2019.

West has long included tinges of religiosity in his music, most blatantly with his 2004 hit "Jesus Walks".
