DirecTV Now, AT&T TV Now price hiked for Grandfathered plans

DirecTV Now, AT&T TV Now price hiked for Grandfathered plans”

AT&T TV Now - formerly DirecTV Now - is raising prices for its streaming television service for the second time this year.

In March, AT&T ditched the old pricing model for its virtual MVPD and introduced two new "slimmer" channel packages, Plus ($50) and Max ($70), both of which include HBO. More than one user suggested this morning that they'd seen 2 or more price increases to the AT&T TV Now (previously called DirecTV Now) service since Spring of 2019.

AT&T's entry-level "Plus" package will increase from $50 per month to $65 per month starting in November, Variety reports, and legacy AT&T Now plans are increasing by $10 per month across the board, according to The Streamable. Plans with more channels that now range in price from $86 to $135 would also get $10 increases.

And that's not all. Earlier this year, AT&T announced it was rolling out another streaming service called AT&T TV, which replicates in full its satellite offering online. If you're an AT&T TV Now subscriber or plan to become one, here is how the price changes will affect you. But like other companies launching such "skinny bundle" services, such as YouTube TV, the service has been squeezed by rising programming costs.

"We're adjusting our pricing to reflect the cost to deliver content to our customers", the spokesperson told Variety. AT&T told a federal judge past year that its acquisition of Time Warner would "enable the merged company to reduce prices", but it's been the opposite in reality.

The price increase will not affect the cost of add-ons like 3rd stream or premium channels, nor will it affect any discount you may already receive on your account. "Customers can contact us at any time to review their plans or make account changes".
