Jared Leto allegedly tried to halt Todd Phillips' 'Joker' production

Jared Leto allegedly tried to halt Todd Phillips' 'Joker' production”

We already knew Suicide Squad star Jared Leto was upset about Todd Phillips' Joker Movie, feeling "alienated and upset" over Warner Bros. greenlighting a new incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime.

It's also said that Leto complained "bitterly" to his agents at CAA, as the company also represents Phillips.

The report says that a source in Leto's camp denies he made the demand.

Despite his apparent unhappiness at Todd Phillips' Joker being given the go-ahead, The Hollywood Reporters add that "Leto's representative says the actor is still happily working with Warner Bros. and notes that he's now shooting John Lee Hancock's Little Things, starring alongside Rami Malek and Denzel Washington, at the studio".

He then went to his music manager, Irving Azoff, in an effort to get him to kill the film, according to the report. "But if the Joker isn't in the film, I don't think it would be odd as he isn't a part of the Suicide Squad in the comics".

However, they also state that Leto is unlikely to play The Joker again.

The industry outlet previously wrote that Leto felt thwarted, as he may have been promised his own standalone Joker movie.

Jared Leto, who played the Joker in the widely panned Suicide Squad, apparently tried to get Todd Phillips' new Joker movie shut down.

Despite the "method acting" Leto employed to play his cartoonish Joker, his Suicide Squad screen time was cut to just 10 minutes.

Despite Phillips' insistence that there won't be any deleted scenes, Joaquin Phoenix felt there were more than a few scenes that he loved - but understood why they were cut. "He will not reprise the role for Warners' upcoming DC movies Birds of Prey (a spinoff centered on Robbie's Harley Quinn) or in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, due out in 2021". "It kind of ends his Joker run".
