Ocasio-Cortez Backs Bernie Sanders At Comeback Rally

Ocasio-Cortez Backs Bernie Sanders At Comeback Rally”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez never hid from the fact that choosing between Sens. Sanders told CBS that Ocasio-Cortez's endorsement was "very significant".

"I am more than ready, more ready than ever, to retain on with you the story warfare that we face on the present time", Sanders mentioned when he took the stage.

The mayor's mention of President Trump prompted many Sanders supporters to chant "Lock Him Up" - a play on the "Lock Her Up" slogan synonymous with failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "That is how I think I can reassure the American people".

Sanders, who had two stents inserted in his heart to clear a blocked artery, said he is "feeling great".

Energized by thousands of backers gathered for a Queens rally, the 78-year-old Vermont senator said, 'When I look at this huge crowd, brothers and sisters, I have no doubt that the political revolution is going to sweep this country, sweep Donald Trump out of office and bring the change that this country has long needed'.

Senator Sanders runs third behind Senator Warren and former Vice President Joe Biden in most recent national polls, although Senator Sanders raised more money for his campaign in the last quarter than any other Democrat.

"It wasn't until I heard of a man by the name of Bernie Sanders that I began to question and assert and recognize my inherent value as a human being who deserves health care, housing, education and a living wage", Ocasio-Cortez said in her speech, where she also called for the "mass mobilization" of young, working class voters in the upcoming 2020 election.

"They want us to believe that the only reality that we can live under is the status quo - real change is impossible", Sanders said.

All of this had helped her "appreciate the enormous, consistent, and non-stop advocacy" that Sanders had displayed on those issues, Ocasio-Cortez told the audience of supporters.

The filmmaker Michael Moore also spoke to endorse Sanders' campaign. A key test comes November 1 in Iowa, when the top candidates will speak at a state Democratic party dinner that often is the point at which support starts to coalesce in the first-in-the-nation caucus state, said Robert Shrum, a former top adviser to Democratic nominees Al Gore and John Kerry.

Both she and her mother just became naturalized US citizens earlier this month. He's received the endorsement of rap artist Cardi B, who's from the Bronx, one other NY borough that Ocasio-Cortez's congressional district in part comprises.

Earlier this year, the lawmaker - who is of Puerto Rican descent - roiled the Capitol by accusing Speaker Nancy Pelosi of targeting "newly elected women of color" by being dismissive of her, Omar, and two other liberal Democratic freshmen known as "the Squad". Even the cost of Ocasio-Cortez's haircuts has become a target for conservative media, only burnishing her reputation and fame.

While Sanders pledged during this week's presidential debate to move forward with a "vigorous" campaign, he's moving cautiously in the short term.

Bernie Sanders isn't going anywhere. "In other words, poverty is a death sentence", he said.
