Microsoft's brand-new app simplifies Office for your phone

Microsoft's brand-new app simplifies Office for your phone”

The Office Mobile app, which combines lightweight versions of the company's Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps, has been available on Samsung smartphones for some time.

The Office Mobile app has been around for quite some time on Samsung devices, but Microsoft is now extending support for the app to other Android devices, in addition to iOS as well.

Word, Excel, PowerPoint & more (yes, don't doubt it, it's the name of the app) doesn't require you to download apps individually like how we're used to working on your Microsoft files. It has everything you need to be productive on the go, including access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

For now, Microsoft is rolling out this new Office app as a beta for Android and iOS users. Instead, Microsoft is simply making the Office app a unified hub for your productivity-related needs. Creating files locally happens via the big red floating action button in the bottom center, following which are a set of nested menus for choosing what type of document you'd like to make - Excel, Docs, a note, that sort of thing. All the tools and features you'd expect are there.

Store and access documents in the cloud or on your device.

The "Home" tab is where you'll find all of your recent documents and the "Actions" tab has tools. Moreover, the Sticky Notes integration helps the users to dwell notes without using Sticky Notes App.

It is aptly named Office Mobile, and it is specifically designed for phones. It includes the ability to perform tasks such as using the camera to convert images to text, creating and signing PDFs, and sharing files between devices.

Users are also able to create a PowerPoint presentation by directly choosing photos from inside their phones.

Outlook for mobile is also getting an upgrade with a new "Play My Emails" feature that's available on iOS from today (in the US) and will arrive on Android next year.
