Cris Carter, former Ohio State star, out as analyst at Fox Sports”

Cris Carter is now officially out at FOX Sports, that is according to a statement released from the network on Thursday morning.

Cris Carter's stint with Fox Sports has come to a close.

Hall of Fame wide receiver and Fox Sports analyst Cris Carter on the field prior to a game between the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns on December 9, 2018 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.

Carter had been on a leave of absence from his role as co-host of Fox Sports 1's "First Things First" morning show, according to FrontRowSports' Michael McCarthy. "There is no further comment at this time", the network said in a statement Thursday. He's reportedly grown unhappy with his lack of a role in the network's National Football League coverage.

Rumors have bubbling since Friday about an alleged blow-up between Carter and his bosses at FS1.

While there have been reports that Carter was miffed about not being a part of Fox's "Thursday Night Football" studio show, that is not the reason he was let go.

The Big Lead was the first to note that Carter was not on the air since October 30. Carter had moved from HBO Sports' Inside to ESPN and then to Fox Sports, accruing many followers along the way.

It'll also be interesting to see what comes out in terms of what led to the split between him and FOX Sports.

It's unclear what this means for FOX's First Things First moving forward.
