Rand Paul Demands The Media Unmask Trump-Ukraine Whistleblower

Rand Paul Demands The Media Unmask Trump-Ukraine Whistleblower”

House Democrats say they've withdrawn a subpoena for testimony from the former deputy national security adviser as part of their impeachment inquiry.

An aide to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy confirmed a report by CBS News that McCarthy was eyeing making temporary adjustments to the Republican membership of the Democratic-led intelligence panel, which will begin holding public impeachment hearings next week.

On Tuesday, publicly released transcripts showed US ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland had returned to give lawmakers new details after his memory was "refreshed", corroborating other witnesses who said Trump sought to pressure the Ukrainians into launching investigations that appeared aimed at boosting his 2020 re-election campaign.

"The president's allies would like nothing better than to help the president out this whistleblower".

Asked Tuesday why he hasn't disclosed who he believes to be the whistleblower, Paul told reporters he "probably will". "They have the right to remain anonymous".

Republicans say they've been told to submit a list of witnesses they'd like to call in the impeachment inquiry by Saturday - and one of President Donald Trump's top defenders says at the top of the list will be the whistleblower who first sounded the alarm about the president's posture toward Ukraine.

"There is no indication that either of the original whistleblowers will be called to testify or appear before the Senate or House Intelligence committees. It's up to Devin [Nunes]", Jordan said. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) blocked a resolution to reaffirm whistleblower protections, saying that Democrats are guilty of "selective outrage".

Trump Jr.'s tweet with a link to the Central Intelligence Agency officer story came days after a Trump rally in Kentucky on Monday, where Republican Sen. "All he did was expose that his government was not obeying the Constitution", Paul said.

Mr Andrew Bakaj, the whistle-blower's lawyer, would not confirm or deny the reported name, but said Mr Trump Jr and others were endangering the person as well as the system built to protect whistle-blowers.
