Michael Bloomberg expected to file for USA presidential primary”

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is weighing a late entrance into the Democratic presidential primary, reversing course from earlier this spring when he said publicly that he would not run.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg could soon enter the Democratic presidential primary as he is expected to file paperwork this week designating himself as a candidate in Alabama, according to the Associated Press.

Howard Wolfson, a close adviser to Bloomberg, said Thursday that the former mayor viewed President Donald Trump as an "unprecedented threat to our nation".

The development comes after Bloomberg signaled last month that he had not ruled out a presidential bid, privately telling associates that he has doubts that former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. It was previously reported that the left-wing billionaire had been mulling a run for the White House, rethinking an earlier decision not to enter the race.

"People are just waiting for him to give the sign".

Bloomberg - a Republican-turned-Democrat - announced in March that he did not plan to run for president, saying at the time he was "clear-eyed about the difficulty of winning the Democratic nomination in such a crowded field".

"But I think at my age, if selling it is possible, I would do that", he said.

Bloomberg has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to promote progressive causes, including gun control and climate change and donated over $100 million to help elect competitive Democrat candidates in the 2018 midterm elections.
