Lexus LC Finally Gets Convertible Option, Inspiration Series Also Announced”

Other exciting convertible-specific features include a modified version of Lexus' Climate Concierge that will work to maintain a specific temperature even with the top down.

Lexus just made a global debut to the third convertible vehicle in its 30 years history, the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible, at the 2019 Los Angeles International Auto Show.

Pricing for the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible remains unknown at this point. And thanks to the car's robust and sensual sounding V8, the LC 500 Convertible accelerates in a pleasantly linear manner.

The LC is based on Lexus' GA-L modular platform, a rigid design with a low center of gravity and near-ideal weight distribution.

Lexus has finally revealed its new LC500 Convertible in production form, with the newcomer joining the coupé version as an "aspirational halo model" for the Japanese luxury brand.

The four-layer soft top is fashioned from fabric that Lexus promises won't wrinkle, while also offering decent sound insulation.

The colour palettes of the exterior and the soft top, as well as the elegant hues of the interior, were carefully selected and combined to cater to the LC customer's high sense of style, taste and diverse lifestyles. There is also an animation display on the gauge so the driver can easily monitor the closing or opening progress of the roof.

The body structure of the LC 500 Convertible was newly created to achieve a rigidity level supporting Lexus driving signature equal to the Coupe, while simultaneously offering both lovely styling and sufficient luggage space. To counter this, weight is reduced at the rear by using a die-cast aluminum suspension brace, and a unique dampener used to ensure comparable ride quality as the coupe. They included a few additional braces to up rigidity and tuning of the suspension to compensate for the slight increase in weight. The naturally aspirated, direct-injection V8 is rated to produce 471 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and it develops a peak torque of 540 Nm. A clear wind deflector and "a focus on aerodynamics around the beltline and rear mold" allows passengers to converse even with the roof down. In combination with the transparent polycarbonate wind deflector, wind flow inside the auto is suppressed and excellent quietness is achieved. Lexus says the new model employs a "sound generator" to transmit intake noises through the dash panel. It also uses active noise cancellation to suppress unwanted sounds. It does this with something that Lexus calls "Upper Body Heating" that controls the seat heaters, air conditioning, neck warmers and steering wheel heater.
