Smartphone maker OnePlus discloses data breach

Smartphone maker OnePlus discloses data breach”

According to a security notification sent from OnePlus today, an unauthorized third party gained access to customers' order information.

UPDATE: In a statement, OnePlus tells us that they "took immediate steps to stop the intruder and reinforce security" and that they are "working with the relevant authorities to further investigate this incident".

This means that if you were amongst the OnePlus users to have potentially had your personal information exposed, you'll already have an email in your inbox. We can confirm that all payment information, passwords, and accounts are safe, but certain users' name, contact number, email, and shipping addresses may have been exposed.

Though the company did not provide any detail of the vulnerability that attackers exploited to compromise its store, it did inspect the server thoroughly to ensure there aren't any other similar vulnerabilities.

Word of the OnePlus breach came one day after T-Mobile announced its own security incident. This security breach does not include payment information, passwords, or OnePlus account information.

"Our Cybersecurity team discovered and shut down malicious, unauthorized access to some information related to your T-Mobile prepaid wireless account", T-Mobile said.

This isn't the first time OnePlus has reported a data breach.

Smartphone maker OnePlus disclosed today a security breach that impacted users of its online store.

OnePlus Support's Twitter account is replying to everyone who mentions the notifications on Twitter and asking them to DM the account for more information. They are now "working with the relevant authorities to further investigate this incident".

We've reached out to OnePlus for comment and will update should we hear back.

We presume that customers who bought their OnePlus phones from carriers or retail outlets would not be affected.

"Before making this public, we informed our impacted users by email".
