Dairy farmers give cows VR goggles to improve milk production

Dairy farmers give cows VR goggles to improve milk production”

They say that virtual reality (VR) headsets will also help in reducing the health problems of cows.

The technology is changing industries that many people had never thought it would, such as, *checks notes*, dairy farming?

Recently, the animals entered the world of virtual reality (VR), after the agriculture ministry announced plans to use VR glasses on cows to encourage them on producing more milk during winter. It came accompanied by photos of a cow trying out its fancy new goggles.

This seems to be a story out of a 2000 AD comic, making a odd point about dystopian society, but the Moscow Ministry of Agriculture and Food has released images of the cows wearing specially adapted headsets as proof.

The developers of the unique VR headsets worked closely with farmers and veterinarians and relied on cattle-vision research to ensure that the devices were suited for use by cows. And then voila! Cow VR glasses.

It was a cold and murky November day in the Moscow Region, but the cows at one farm were absolutely sure they were grazing a green field in the middle of summer. A cow's (virtual) paradise.

And what were these cows experiencing with their new VR glasses? Recently, employees from a farm in Russian Federation teamed up with IT experts to use human technology product on the cows, in hopes to stimulate more production of milk.

It is also unclear if the cows' milk production increased due to the experiment, but the Russian government claimed that the experiment resulted in decreased anxiety and improved the emotional mood of the herd.

To be fair, if we were transported to a vast field in the summertime, our anxiety and emotional mood would be better, too. Some Wagyu farmers set mood lighting, among other tricks, to keep their cows calm and producing the best beef possible.
