Nets' Irving likely to return Sunday”

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Irving is likely to return when the Brooklyn Nets take on the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.

Irving returned from missing 26 games with right shoulder impingement and in his first game since November 14 at Denver, the All-Star guard made 10 of 11 shots, hit his one 3-point try and had three assists in 20 minutes.

The Nets went 13-13 in Irving's absence.

Irving was able to fully participate in practice for the first time Thursday morning, including working through 5-on-5 contact drills.

The Nets listed Irving as probable on the injury report Saturday (Sunday, PHL time) for their game against Atlanta. "I'm grateful to be out here, I worked extremely hard to get back", Irving said in an on-court TV interview.

He had 21 points, four rebounds and three assists in 20 uber-efficient minutes with his 10-for-11 shooting performance the best percentage of his career.

The Hawks saw their league-worst record drop to 8-32 as they shot 33% as Trae Young sat out with left hamstring pain.

"We can be very risky", Irving said. "If we do the right things on the defensive end, we'll be OK".
