Wind warning for West Norfolk

Wind warning for West Norfolk”

Heavy wind and rain are set to arrive in northern parts of the United Kingdom, bringing potential travel chaos and a risk of floods, according to the Met Office.

The Met Office says "a widely very windy period is expected on Monday afternoon and evening with some disruption to travel likely".

High wind and sandy waves along the north beach in Lowestoft.

The yellow warning of wind is in place for Monday and Tuesday.

Southwesterly winds are expected to strengthen across much of England and Wales during Tuesday afternoon and evening, bringing gusts of up to 40 to 50mph inland.

Strong winds are likely to affect roads and train lines, while heavy and persistent rain can provoke fast flowing or deep floodwater that can cause a danger to life. Inland gusts of 45-55 miles per hour are more likely.

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

Across the country, the Met Office said winds may reach 60mph or 70mph in exposed coastal and hilly areas.
