White-hot Australia hammer India by 10 wickets in Mumbai”

Australia on Tuesday humiliated the Indian cricket team on their home ground after they defeated the hosts by 10 wickets in the first One Day Internationa of the series.

The 10-wicket margin was Australia's biggest in a one-day global in India, and only the second time the hosts have been beaten so badly at home. Of course, first 10 overs Pat Cummins bowled really good line and length, tight line, he didn't give much loose deliveries and with that pace it can get a bit challenging as well to score runs, especially when they're bowling in such tight areas.

Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden was surprised to see India opener Virat Kohli coming out to bat at No.4 in the first ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.

"I think I've always had the hunger and desire for runs".

Warner took full advantage, cutting Jasprit Bumrah past point to bring up his 18th ODI century from 88 balls - as well as the 200 partnership - in the 31st over. Overall, he hit 17 fours and three sixes. Finch completed his 16th century in the format, his unbeaten innings 110 from 114 features two sixes and 13 fours.

Indian captain Virat Kohli admitted his side was thoroughly outplayed after just their second 10-wicket loss on home soil in history. Anticipating dew in the evening session, Aaron Finch opted to field. Kohli pushed himself down the order to accommodate Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan in the batting lineup.

Dhawan top-scored with 74 off 91 on his ODI return and stitched a century stand with Rahul which was helping India score at almost five an over before the in-form Rahul fell for 47.

Dhawan showed his class and played all kinds of shots to register his fifty in 66 balls with a single off leg-spinner Adam Zampa (1/53) in the 20th over.

Starc then returned to the attack, removing Shreyas Iyer cheaply as India lost four wickets for 30 runs to be reduced to 164 for five.

Cummins and fast bowler Kane Richardson picked up two wickets each for Australia.

Rahul too was kept in check, playing out 28 dots off the 61 he faced for his score of 47 - a dot-ball percentage of 45.9. "You've got someone like Virat Kohli that has played 230-odd one-day matches and 180 of those have been at No.3 and he has scored nearly 10,000 runs at that particular position", the former southpaw was quoted as saying by

The second ODI is on Friday in Rajkot.

"I feel that when KL got out, that time we planned to accelerate and those four wickets we lost, that's where we lost the momentum", Dhawan said at the press conference. "Today was one of those days when we weren't allowed into the game at all".

"I feel at that time we wanted to hold wickets in hand and we were not taking extra chances in that particular phase and still we were having four to five run-rate", he said.
