More new coronavirus cases than SARS, but less severe

More new coronavirus cases than SARS, but less severe”

Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi told the parliamentary session Wednesday that the government would have to send two more flights to evacuate the rest of the people wishing to return home.

The sharp rise in infections recently suggests significant human-to-human spread of the virus, though it could also be explained by expanded monitoring efforts, said Malik Peiris, chair in virology at the University of Hong Kong.

The UAE has confirmed that the first case of the coronavirus has been found in the country.

"Considerable efforts" will be needed to control the spread if this ratio holds up elsewhere, researchers wrote in the report, published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

SARS, another respiratory virus transmitted between people, went on to claim almost 800 lives around the world, with most of those fatalities in mainland China and Hong Kong.

In Beijing, the WHO's director-general, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He said China was taking "extraordinary measures in the face of an extraordinary challenge" posed by the outbreak.

Until Tuesday, all reported cases in more than a dozen countries had involved people who had been in or around Wuhan. Ryan estimated the death rate of the new virus at 2%, but said the figure was very preliminary. The death toll from the virus outbreak is now more than 100.

In comparison, the SARS virus killed about 10% of people who caught it.

A four-member Chinese family infected with new coronavirus is the first confirmed case in the UAE, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, revealed today.

Ryan noted there were several aspects of the new virus outbreak that are extremely worrying, citing the recent rapid spike in cases in China. He said that while scientists believe the outbreak was sparked by an animal virus, it's unclear if there are other factors driving the epidemic.

Aoyama said more than 400 Japanese people wishing to return to Japan are in Wuhan, including those who are working for a Japanese supermarket chain that stays open to serve customers who need food.

A Japanese chartered plane carrying evacuees from Wuhan, China, landed at Haneda worldwide airport in Tokyo Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020.

"All options for dealing with infectious disease spread have to be on the table, including travel restrictions", said U.S. Health Secretary Alex Azar.

The pair said they were feeling fine and weren't sitting next to people on the plane who seemed to show signs of illness.

The passengers will reportedly be screened for the virus when the plane makes a refueling stop in Anchorage, Alaska, and those who are medically cleared will be allowed to continue on to the continental U.S.

All 206 passengers aboard the flight from Wuhan were Japanese nationals.

Symptoms of the new kind of coronavirus include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

"The number of patients began increasing rapidly at a certain point".

Concern is also growing over the impact of the virus on the world's second-biggest economy, with airlines cutting flights to China - British Airways is the latest to announce a suspension - and global companies curbing employees' travel there. Australia, Finland and Singapore were among those reporting new cases, as the number outside China topped 70.

USA officials said the White House was weighing whether to suspend flights to the country in a drastic measure to control the spread of the disease. Al-Rand also declined to say which cities they visited during their vacation.
