Jeff Bezos sued for defamation by girlfriend Lauren Sanchez's brother

Jeff Bezos sued for defamation by girlfriend Lauren Sanchez's brother”

In the case, Mr Sanchez, a Hollywood talent manager, claimed unspecified damages from Bezos and de Becker "in an amount appropriate to punish and make an example of defendants", according to the Mail Online.

Sanchez is seeking unspecified damages over those allegedly false statements, which he claims spurred an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid at his house, caused professional problems for him, and damaged his relationship with family members.

The brother of Jeff Bezos' girlfriend has filed a lawsuit accusing Bezos and his security consultant of defaming him in connection with a 2019 National Enquirer story revealing Bezos' extramarital affair.

Jeff Bezos and girlfriend Lauren Sanchez made it red-carpet official last month, but February brings a new set of headlines tied to their union. It also claimed to have access to their intimate pictures, which it didn't publish. Among its other claims, Sanchez's suit says Lauren Sanchez and Bezos, the founder of Amazon and the world's richest man, kept their affair secret on the advice of a psychic. William Isaacson, Bezos' lawyer, has said his client (Bezos) will soon address the lawsuit in court.

De Becker did not respond to a message seeking comment. In a statement provided by her lawyer, Terry Bird, Lauren Sanchez said, "Michael is my older brother". He secretly provided my most personal information to the National Enquirer - a deep and unforgivable betrayal.

Last week, it was reported that Michael Sanchez received a $200,000 payment from the National Enquirer for leaking intimate images and text. "My family is hurting over this new baseless and untrue lawsuit, and we truly hope my brother finds peace".

His consultant Becker linked the hack to The Washington Post's coverage of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul.

The story has expanded into an global controversy, now involving allegations that Saudi Arabia's crown prince participated in a hack of Bezos' phone and an investigation by federal prosecutors in NY.

Bezos' affair returned to news when The Guardian reported that it was "highly probable" that Saudi Arabia hacked Bezos' phone in May 2018, which the Saudi government has denied.

Last week, in a further twist to Bezos' phone saga, The Wall Street Journal reported that Michael Sanchez reportedly sold photos to the National Enquirer, which then published a controversial story about Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' affair early a year ago.

In a blog post in February past year, Bezos alleged that David Pecker, the CEO of AMI, attempted to blackmail him using these graphic pictures of the alleged affair, for politically motivated reasons.
