African Stars Who Played For Manchester United

African Stars Who Played For Manchester United”

Former Manchester United star Garth Crooks has questioned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to sell Romelu Lukaku in the summer and believes Odion Ighalo is not a replacement for the Belgian.

Gudjohnsen's former Chelsea striker partner, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, believes Ighalo was at the bottom of United's list of targets.

The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals in all competitions in an injury-hit season, but has just one in the last six matches as United struggle for goals in the absence of striker Marcus Rashford, who is nursing a stress fracture in his back. He's been asked to play too much as well, especially now when Marcus is injured.

Ighalo landed in Manchester on Sunday and told Sky Sports News: 'Its been insane. "He is going to play every game, why they went for (Odion) Ighalo, I don't understand it".

'I don't think any of the best strikers are eager to join United anymore'.

The 30-year-old Nigerian striker played for two seasons at Watford before he left the English topflight for a move to China.

Ighalo could be involved for Manchester United when they face Chelsea in two weeks, and ahead of his debut for the club the Nigeria worldwide claimed his move to Old Trafford has seen his childhood dream come true.

The Red Devils ended their pursuit for a new striker after brining in Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua on a short-term deal, and the ex-Super Eagles star will become the seventh African player to represent the club. They have got a big job ahead. "I think the fans see what we're trying to do and it had to be done".

Ighalo's move came as a surprise to many as United desperately sought to add attacking reinforcements during the winter window, though the forward says he is ready to make the most of a "great opportunity" upon his return to English football.

"Or [Raul] Jimenez at Wolves - throw money at that".
