Alcott wins sixth Open wheelchair title”

Tennis legend Dyan Alcott has won his 6th consecutive Australian Open title.

Alcott was greeted by Australian Open men's champion Novak Djokovic, who is preparing for the finals against Dominic Thiem on Sunday.

But with several sponsors kicking in, he ensured $800 for every one of his 41 aces would go towards disabled bushfire sufferers.

"I was donating $100 per ace at the Australian Open and then all my team actually came on board", he said in the speech, acknowledging the financial assistance from his team that helped to multiply the donation. I might have lost today but that will live forever ... if there's one disabled person at home watching this and wondering if they should chase their dreams, we are proof ...

Alcott also delivered a powerful message to those affected by disabilities.

"If you look around the top row, nearly every person has a disability and look, they're full ... if we continue to grow society will continue to support us", he added.

"Keep doing what you are doing and I promise you as we continue to grow, society will support you and help you do whatever you want to do".

Alcott said the most satisfying aspect of his win was the potential to provide inspiration for people with disabilities across a range of fields. "And the Australian Open single-handedly changed my life, it really has", he said.

Alcott also praised the Australian Open as the most "inclusive" of the four Grand Slams.

"I love every single one of you for supporting what we do", he stated.
