Bad Boys takes another victory lap”

Meanwhile, Paramount's Rhythm Section, an R-rated action drama starring Blake Lively, got pummeled by the competition, landing at No. 10 with a disastrous $2.8 million.

Overall ticket sales for Super Bowl weekend topped out at roughly $85 million, the second-worst showing in nearly 15 years, according to Comscore. It's the latest horror film to not make much of a mark in 2020, with last weekend's The Turning also disappointing at the box office.

Motion Picture Web claims Bad Boys for Life made another $177 million at the box office this past weekend, stalling in the primary position since it was launched.

"Gretel & Hansel" was the number-one new movie this weekend, but it landed in fourth-place overall on the box office charts with a $6M debut across 3,007 locations. It also made a splat on Rotten Tomatoes with 33% and a C+ Cinemascore. "Dolittle" carries a price tag near $180 million and looks to be a big money loser for the studio. Oz Perkins directed the dark adaptation, featuring Sophia Lillis ("It", "Sharp Objects") as Gretel in the new version of the fairytale about a young girl and her brother who accidentally find themselves in the house of an evil enchantress.

The Sam Mendes World War I film continues to perform well in the midst of its Academy Awards push as it averaged $5,624 on 297 screens this weekend bringing its total to $16.64m. 7 million in 63 worldwide countries with its global pull rising to $126 million.

"Dolittle", based on the children's book about a veterinarian who can talk to the animals, has drawn tepid reviews but, with an all-star cast headed by Robert Downey Jr and Emma Thompson, placed third at $7.7 million. The movie brought in $7.7 million in its third weekend of release, boosting US ticket sales to $55 million.

Elsewhere in the box office top 3, 1917 has clocked a strong weekend with $20.9 million in 61 foreign territories, bringing its worldwide tally to $249 million with expectations for the tally set to go up following what is slated to be a favorable appearance at the forthcoming Oscars. The Jumanji sequel, which opened around Christmas, has generated $291 million to date.

After three weeks in theaters, Sony's "Bad Boys for Life" is officially the highest-grossing installment in the action-comedy series.
