Jessica Simpson 'went back' to John Mayer relationship 'nine times'”

Jessica Simpson is opening up about her turbulent relationship with John Mayer.

The "With You" singer, 39, who is now promoting her memoir Open Book, reflected on her four-year relationship in a preview clip for her US TODAY Show interview.

Jessica says it was only after John gave his infamous Playboy interview in 2010, calling her "sexual napalm" that she felt able to move on, deleting his contact details, and changing her email address and phone number. "We were great at loving each other", she shared. The sultry diva, who wrote her memoir, called "Open Book" says that her relationship with John was very complex, and she got back together with him nearly close to 9 times.

Simpson noted that she and the "Your Body Is a Wonderland" crooner, 42, were on-again, off-again throughout the majority of their courtship.

"It was always on-again, off-again, on- again, off-again and I went back close to nine times".

'Sometimes it was out of the blue, other times I knew it was coming, because my light would start to go dim. John loved me when I was shining, and he'd draw strength and inspiration to write from that light, ' she writes. "Too long", she told the magazine. "But it did control me".

"He thought that was what I wanted to be called". "A woman and how they are in bed is not something that is ever talked about".

That comment, she said, "made it easy" for her to "walk away" from the relationship.

"I know that he's publicly apologized and I don't want to take that away from him", she said.

In the past few years, the "With You" songstress began writing music again, with new songs set to be released alongside the audio book she narrated of her new memoir, Open Book.

One of the relationships she's diving deep into is the one she had with John Mayer.

"He was the most loyal person on the planet and when I read that he wasn't, that was it for me", she explained. "There is power in the truth".
