Cristiano Ronaldo: South Korean fans compensated after Juventus forward fails to play”

Almost seven months after Cristiano Ronaldo failed to take part in Juventus' pre-season match against the K-League All-Star team, fans who attended the match have been awarded thousands of rands in compensation.

The Portuguese superstar had been expected to play at least 45 minutes against K-League All Stars, according to event organisers The Fasta Inc, but sat out the entire game before a sell-out 65,000 crowd.

Kim, who filed the lawsuit, said: "The Fasta misled and used the fans of Cristiano Ronaldo for their own benefit".

South Korea's professional football governing body K League also sent a letter of protest to Juventus for violating the contract.

Reuters report that Kim told them the court "ordered" The Fasta Inc to pay 70,000 won (£45.36) per ticket, 1,000 won (£0.65) for the ticket commission fee, and 300,000 won (£194) each for "mental anguish" for the two plaintiffs.

Kim Min-ki, who was the attorney for the two spectators, also confirmed that he was working on cases with 87 other spectators in connection with aspects surrounding the particular fixture.

Juventus have been widely criticised by Korean fans for their handling of the match after it was delayed for nearly an hour and ended in a 3-3 draw.

"There was no apology for the Juventus squad's arrival at the stadium an hour or so late, and the ridiculous and insulting demand to reduce the game time to 40 minutes for each half".
