Eric Trump Defends Father Against Backlash Over Alice Johnson Super Bowl Ad

Eric Trump Defends Father Against Backlash Over Alice Johnson Super Bowl Ad”

Donald Trump aired a couple of ads during the Super Bowl last night, one of which featured a woman named Alice Johnson. Bloomberg, meanwhile, promoted his support for stricter gun control laws in a 60-second spot featuring Calandrian Kemp, whose son George Kemp was shot to death.

Trump's second commercial focused on his record and the booming economy.

Johnson tweeted the ad Sunday, saying: "Two Super Bowls ago I was sitting in a prison cell".

The ad then showed Johnson being reunited with loved ones, as the on-screen text added, "Thanks to President Trump, people like Alice are getting a second chance...." George Kemp Jr., who dreamed of one day playing in the National Football League, was only 20 when he was fatally shot in 2013. Bloomberg stated: "2,900 children die from gun violence every year".

With campaign stops across California on Monday, Mr Bloomberg displayed his extremely well-funded campaign.

"Mini Mike is now negotiating both to get on the Democrat Primary debate stage, and to have the right to stand on boxes, or a lift, during the debates". Mr. Trump asked. "Why should he be entitled to that, really?". Why should he get a box to stand on?

His campaign assailed Trump for his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan.

Mr. Bloomberg campaign spokeswoman Julie Wood said Trump was "lying". The official spoke on condition of anonymity, citing a policy of not discuss conversations with candidates.

Jeff Weaver, a senior adviser to Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, echoed that sentiment, telling The New York Times: "To now change the rules in the middle of the game to accommodate Mike Bloomberg, who is trying to buy his way into the Democratic nomination, is wrong". Trump praised his achievements in this ad, stating that he keeps his promises and makes America great again. In fact, the Washington Post reported today that the traditional process for clemency grants has been largely abandoned, replaced by a system in which inmates with connections get favored status, circumventing the Justice Department.

Mr. Trump in the Fox interview also criticised House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats.

"I think there's no question that he's anxious about me, because otherwise he wouldn't respond", Bloomberg said.

"I'm not sure that they can do it, to be honest", he added.

Trump is expected to give his state of the union speech on Tuesday, and the Republican-controlled US senate is expected to vote to acquit him in his impeachment trial on Wednesday. Bloomberg himself delivered a stinging rebuke to Trump.

Mr. Trump spent his weekend golfing and mingling with guests at his dues-paying Mar-a-Lago club.

Even before the competing commercials were broadcast, Trump had used Twitter to accuse the billionaire of "wasting his money" after spending $ 10 million (£ 7.6 million) at the end - the same amount as the campaign of the president.
