Greg Olsen to take first free agent visits with Redskins, Bills

Greg Olsen to take first free agent visits with Redskins, Bills”

Olsen, who turns 35 in March and had one year left on his contract, is now free to make another career move, which could include with another National Football League team or possibly in broadcasting.

The Carolina Panthers released the veteran tight end on Monday, per the transaction wire.

Olsen recently confirmed that he will be departing the Carolina Panthers, but despite rumors of a broadcasting career, he's made it clear that he still wants to play.

"I'll be honest in my heart I was hoping they would have been one of the first calls", Olsen said. He has previous connections with both teams. The wins, the losses, standing at midfield holding the Halas Trophy as NFC champs. The three-time Pro Bowler owns franchise tight end records for catches and receiving yards. He was the first tight end in National Football League history to post three straight 1,000-yard seasons when he did so from 2014-16.

Four days ago, Olsen announced that he and the Panthers would be mutually parting ways. But with Olsen's injury struggles and cap hit - which for 2020 was to be $11.675 million - it doesn't make much sense for the Bears.
