India crush rival Pakistan to reach U-19 WC final”

Potchefstroom - Defending champions India cruised to a 10-wicket win over neighbours and arch-rivals Pakistan in Potchefstroom on Tuesday to reach the Under-19 Cricket World Cup final for the seventh time.

They will now face either Bangladesh or New Zealand whose semi-final match will be played on Thursday. Pakistan will contest the third-place play-off in Benoni on Saturday.

Divyaansh was unbeaten on 59 off 99 balls and his innings included six fours.

"It's a dream come true for me".

"They bowled well initially and we wanted to ride that out and we knew we could dominate them after that".

Jaiswal, who now tops the run-getter list with 306 runs in the tournament, smashed eight fours and four sixes in his 112-ball innings, while Saxena had six boundaries to his name. Haris was caught at deep square by Divyaansh Saxena - his second catch in the match.

Jaiswal in the end scored 105 off 113 balls and additionally took the crucial wicket of Pakistan opener Haider Ali earlier in the day just as the latter and his captain Rohail Nazir looked to be on their way to resurrecting the faltering Pakistan innings.

Ali and captain Rohail Nazir (62) helped Pakistan recover after losing Mohammad Huraira and Fahad Munir cheaply, but only Mohammad Haris, who hit a brisk 21 off 15 balls, provided any additional contribution.

Pakistan were going along nicely with Rohail Nazir coming into his own with a patient half-century and Mohammad Haris threatening to take the attack to the Indian bowlers.

That catch was Divyansh Saxena turned out to be the turning point of the game as Pakistan proceeded to lose their last six wickets for a mere 26 runs with Kartik Tyagi [2-32] and Sushant Mishra [3-28] polished off their lower middle-order.

Opener Ali and skipper Nazir put up some resistance and built up a 50-plus runs partnership. "The boys are ready to give their best performance against India".
