Pete Buttigieg heckled by climate protesters as he campaigns in New Hampshire”

The Iowa Democratic Party released partial results of its kickoff presidential caucus after a daylong delay late Tuesday showing former Midwestern mayor Pete Buttigieg with a slight lead over progressive Vermont Sen.

Democratic party officials say they are working through "inconsistencies in the reporting" but that no part of their electronic vote tallying system was hacked.

McCain went on to predict that former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg would most benefit from the Iowa caucus results, as he chose to skip competing in the Hawkeye State state.

It was too early to call a victor based on the initial results, but Massachusetts Sen.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is so far carrying third place, according to the partial results, commanding about 18% of delegate equivalents, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden, whose haul is now almost 16%. Amy Klobuchar was in fifth, with 12.6%.

Buttigieg led with 26.9% of the delegates, just ahead of Sanders with 25.1% of delegates. Sen.

Sanders, a 78-year-old self-described democratic socialist, has been a progressive powerhouse for decades, while the 38-year-old Buttigieg's early standing cemented his transformation from a little-known IN mayor to a legitimate force IN the 2020 contest.

He also pointed out that the Democrats do not have the votes to remove the president, with Republicans holding not only a three-member majority in the U.S. Senate, but because removals needs a two-thirds vote.

After New Hampshire, the next nominating contest is on February 22 in Nevada, and the state Democratic Party there is promising that its caucusing process will not be a repeat of Iowa.

Buttigieg's early rise was rivaled for possible importance by the struggle of another moderate, Biden.

Democratic presidential candidate Senator Elizabeth Warren. Raygun, a locally famous printing and clothing company, put out a shirt that stated "This Shirt Was Designed and Printed Faster Than the Caucus Results Were Released".

"We believe we will emerge with the delegates we need to continue on our path to nomination", said Symone Sanders, a senior adviser.

Meanwhile, the race to find his opponent fell into chaos as the victor of the Iowa caucus was not clear amid technical problems. It was unclear when the full results would be released.

Shadow is based in Denver, Colorado, and describes itself as "an independent, for-profit technology company" that contracted with the Iowa Democratic party to build a caucus reporting mobile app.

Gerard Niemira said in a statement: "We sincerely regret the delay in the reporting of the results of last night's Iowa caucuses and the uncertainty it has caused to the candidates, their campaigns, and Democratic caucus-goers".

Pete Buttigieg was heckled by climate protesters as he embarked on a hectic week's campaigning in New Hampshire.

Now, a day later, as final results are still being tabulated, Iowa is facing questions of trust and increased scrutiny over whether it should maintain its first-in-the-nation status.

However, the indeterminate result on the night has created scepticism of the caucus process and reignited questions over whether Iowa - a rural, white state not representative of the USA electorate as a whole - should continue to be the place to hold the first primary contest.

It is absurd that what happens in Iowa is given such weight, but over half a century it has become the first stage of a complex set of votes to choose a presidential nominee.

Speaking to reporters on an airplane bound for New Hampshire on Tuesday morning, Sanders said he was disappointed by the foul-up.

"And when you count those votes, I look forward to winning here", he said. There remains too many state delegate equivalents undecided to declare a victor.

Iowa has a total of 99 counties which will vote on who they want to represent them.

Campaigning in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Warren also said she was "feeling good" about her performance in Iowa.

"We were faced with multiple reporting challenges and decided, out of an abundance of caution, to protect the integrity of the Iowa caucuses and their results to take the necessary steps to review and confirm the data", he said. "We were promised that we would be able to play around with it before we would be able to use it on the night of".

Sanders adviser Jeff Weaver thanked party officials, and encouraged other campaigns not to undermine the party.

Bloomberg announced plans to double his national television advertising spending - which has already exceeded $100 million - as he expands his paid staff to more than 2,000 people.

Bloomberg is looking to next month, having chose to bypass Iowa's contest and the three other states voting this month in favour of the delegate-rich states in March.

"After more than a year of this primary, the field is as unsettled as ever", Bloomberg spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said.

The Iowa Democratic Party released 71% of results on Tuesday after delays prompted by sweeping technical issues paralyzed the caucus system. Many questioned anew whether it was a quaint political tradition whose time had passed.
