‘Spinning Out’ Canceled After One Season at Netflix

‘Spinning Out’ Canceled After One Season at Netflix”

Unfortunately, Netflix didn't offer up a reason with regards to why they've chosen not to renew Spinning Out, but as with previous cancellations, it likely comes down to the series underperforming as far as their viewership analytics go.

The cast also includes January Jones, Willow Shields, Amanda Zhou, Will Kemp, Svetlana Efremova, Mitchell Edwards, Sarah Wright Olsen, David James Elliott, Johnny Weir, Kaitlyn Leeb and Jonathan Van Ness.

The 10-episode series, which dropped on the streaming service January 1, starred Kaya Scodelario as Kat Baker, a young ice skater who suffers a serious injury and is taken off her competitive track. But it seems that wasn't enough to keep the cameras rolling because Netflix Canada's Spinning Out got cancelled after its first season.

The timing of this cancellation isn't particularly surprising; Netflix tends to allow its series a month or two to grow an audience before using viewing data to make a decision about the future of a show.

A little over a month after it dropped, Deadline reported that "Netflix has cancelled [the] competitive figure skating drama". On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream. WE NEED ANSWERS." Another fan tweeted: "You're really telling me.that @netflix created the PERFECTION that is #SpinningOut and then just.cancelled it after one season??? "We truly appreciate each and every one of you".
